SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Will work throughout the manufacturing plant to analyze, modify and build control systems to improve safety, quality, delivery and productivity of equipment and facility systems. Additionally, this individual will assist in troubleshooting machine issues. This individual will be responsible for identifying and implementing opportunities that are machine and process related that can be improved through the use of technology. They will need to coach and mentor others within the manufacturing plant in their areas of expertise. This position works with other technicians, tool room personnel, planners/schedulers, engineers, department managers, and operators during the analysis, build, and implementation phases of various projects. May need to diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical problems in the assigned area.

Pay rate range is $28.15-$40.45/hr.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Flexibility of work hours including mandatory overtime when business needs requires.

· Ability to rotate to other positions and schedules as needed.

· Able to safely work with and around moving equipment

· Ability to communicate in a concise, polite and respectful manner with team members.

· Regular / dependable attendance consistent with attendance guidelines is required.

· Operate equipment/tools that require close control, adjustment, following production orders.

· Comply with safety, quality, and production requirements and procedures.

· Ability to meet physical requirements of the job.

· Perform Total Productive Maintenance duties.

· Maintain good housekeeping.

· Design and implement controls for new and existing machines or processes using a variety of hardware components which include PLC’s, HMI’s, CNC’s, PC’s, motion controllers and standard industrial controls.

· Ability to assist with the building of machines, tools, fixtures, jigs, and templates, as well as the project management of all of these.

· Diagnose and repair all electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and hydraulic problems.

· Knowledge of compressed air and electrical distribution systems

· Conducts PM inspections and provides input for PM inspections and equipment

· Ability to consult on analysis of major repairs, rebuilds and modifications

· Supports implementation of CI, Quality, and TPM programs

· Must have good safety and quality awareness

· Displays ability to write simple and complex PLC Programs

· Working knowledge of all types of PLC’s

· Ability to assist in maintaining all models and series of PLCs currently in use.

· Maintain backup copies of PLC programs used in production and facility related equipment.

· Must have ability to work with data downloads.

· Ability to establish and maintain machine settings for data downloads and collaborate with IT to set up or modify settings for data downloads.

· Installation of conduit, pipes, and plumbing

· Installation of electrical lines

· Good machining skills knowledge

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· Job related experience is preferred.

· Manufacturing experience is preferred.

SKILLS AND TALENTS:

· Decision making / problem solving in a manufacturing environment with minimal supervision.

· Use of hand tools and machinery is required.

· Requires written and oral communication skills and the cognitive ability to learn the safety, quality, and productivity standards.

· Learn, comprehend and implement Lock Out/Tag Out and safety and quality procedures to assure the safe and proper operation of the equipment.

· Familiarity with American units of measure for weight, time, and distance.

· Use of measurement devices.

· Mechanical aptitude.

· Proficient follow up skills

· Proficient rigging skills for moving equipment and lines.

· Able to train others.

· Ability to delegate.

· Initiative to seek out and correct problem areas.

· Mentors all levels of personnel.

· Plan and coordinate work.

· Assume responsibility.

· Be willing and capable of assisting in other areas as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Lift up to 80 lbs. at waist level, up to 40 lbs. at shoulder level, and up to 40 lbs. at floor level on an occasional basis when handling products.

· Push or pull with up to 80 lbs. of force on an occasional basis when moving products.

· Generate up to 80 lbs. of grip strength on an occasional basis with each hand while handling products.

· Generate up to 15 lbs. of pinch strength on an occasional basis with each hand while handling products.

· Display average coordination with each hand on a continuous basis while performing job tasks.

· Climb ladder or machines on an occasional basis while performing job tasks.

· Perform elevated work on an occasional basis when handling products.

· Stoop, kneel or squat on an occasional basis when handling products.

· Reach forward and to the side on a frequent basis when handling products.

· Stand and walk on a continuous basis during the course of each shift.

· This job requires the use of close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth vision.

· Able to perform repetitive tasks up to 10 hours per day
